FUN CASINO EXPLAINED
For those that have never been to or organised an event of this kind before, the following information should prove invaluable. It should give you a clear idea on how it can work for you and be an extremely enjoyable and successful event.
Fun Casino is an excellent tool for Fund Raising as you simply sell the gaming tokens/fun money instead of giving it away. A well organised Fun Casino should generate between 2 and 3 times its own cost. Price List is at the end.
First of all here is a list of frequently asked questions:
Q. Do people lose lots of money ?
A. Absolutely not. Players will be gambling with hypothetical/ fun money the value of which will be set by you the customer.
For example XYZ Co Ltd has 100 guests to entertain at a function. Each guest is given a gift of say 25 chips (usually a simple voucher is used) *. These vouchers or “Permits To Gamble” are exchanged at the table for coloured gaming chips.
At the end of the casino, players cash in their chips to discover who has been most successful. A Casino Manager (usually recruited by us)** will keep a written record of players’ winnings.
Lets say I started with 25 chips and after 1 hour of roulette I had 170 chips. As soon as I wish to stop gambling I would tell the croupier, they would alert the Casino Manager and he/she would calculate my winnings, record it and take back all chips for new players. I would be free to return to the tables at anytime.
For example, if there was more than one table at your function and I wished to Bank 70 chips and take 100 chips to try my luck at Blackjack, then once again I would see the Casino Manager / Banker and withdraw 100 chips from my banked winnings. This would usually be in voucher form which I could then take to the Blackjack Table.
** The Casino Manger’s role cannot be underestimated as they keep control of the whole night. They mingle with the guests encouraging them to get involved and explaining how to play. They police any unlikely disputes. They enhance quick play as they will remind guests of casino etiquette. Their very presence creates a more authentic atmosphere as in a real casino you would have what is known as a PIit Boss. They stop players leaving the table with pocketfuls of chips and explain about the banking procedure, once again, enhancing quicker play.
Prizes can be awarded to as many winners as you like. This means you can budget precisely for the cost of the prizes whilst retaining the exciting and unknown elements of the casino.
Everyone has the chance of a prize and you don't have to favour one guest over another. With Fun Casinos, success is down to their skill – and Lady Luck!

In the case of Fund Raising events the vouchers can be sold to your guests for a fee that you deem suitable, so in other words you the client have complete control over the value of the chips. If for instance you sold the 25 chip vouchers for £5 their value would be 20 pence each.
Q. How long does the casino last.
A. The casino can last as long as you like, however the norm is between 2 and 3 hours and as such our prices are based on up to 3 hours of gambling time.
Q. How long Does it take to set up ?
A. Obviously access at each venue is different but once in the function room the tables are erected in a matter of a few minutes. They are full size authentic casino tables but have been adapted slightly to make them more portable. In cases where access is extremely limited or difficult we can supply huge gaming baizes which can be placed over your own tables. This is just as much fun but obviously doesn’t look quite as authentic.
Q. Is there a discount if I take more than one table ?
A. Yes, tables usually go out in a minimum of 2 but you can have as few or as many as you like. There is a gentle sliding scale whereby the more you take the cheaper it is per unit. We have done single table events for cosy house parties right up to 16 table corporate events.
Q. How many tables can I have ?
A. Subject to availability and staff you can have as many as you like but the most we have done is 16 tables. 6 x blackjack + 6 x roulette + 2 x Poker + 2 x Dice.
Q. How many tables should I have ?
A. This is probably the hardest question to answer. In an ideal world approximately 1 table per 25 - 40 guests maximum. The lower the ratio the more comfortable the night. So 1 table per 20 guests is better than 1 table per 40.
This is what you must consider. We have done events where there were 2 tables for over 200 guests and everybody wanted to gamble and it became frenzied and chaotic. Our client was advised to take more tables or pay for extended hours or reduce the amount of chips per guest, unfortunately they ignored all this advice and although the night was a great success in terms of a fundraiser. It was 3 or 4 people deep at each table and so gambling time per guest was very minimal. They would have taken even more money had they applied a better table to guest ratio.
On the other hand we have carried out events where 1 table was enough for 200 guests as only about half wanted to gamble and they weren’t very good or lucky so they were soon off the tables.
So, in short you need to have a rough idea of how your guests might react to the night. Also is the gambling for everybody or just those that want to gamble. I have not met many people who do not like to gamble for fun when there is nothing to lose, obviously with fundraisers where vouchers are sold it is down to the individual how much they want to spend. So if a high flier wins the bottle of Champagne at the end of the night but he’d bought substantially more vouchers than anybody else then your night has been successful financially, although I prefer a situation where every guest starts with an equal amount, otherwise the winner could be simply the person who spent the most.
Heres some facts and figures that may help

Blackjack & Poker tables accommodate upto 7 players. If all 7 players had 25 chips and bet 1 chip every go and lost each time, the game should be finished in comfortably under 2 minutes. So 7 players could feasibly play for 25 x 2minutes before losing all chips. That is 50 minutes. Therefore, if you had 50 guests it would take roughly 7 seat changes i.e 7 x 50 minutes which is 350 minutes which is roughly 6 hours. You would be right to point out that those that win will have more goes but by the same token those that lose will have less and as the ratio of winners and losers is approximately 50% we have ignored this for the purpose of the explanation as they would cancel each other out, in other words for everyone who is at the table for an exceptionally long time on a winning streak there will almost certainly be someone on an a disastrous losing streak.
Did you follow all that, It does make sense if you read it slowly.
In reality games are generally quicker than 2 minutes about 1 minute 30 seconds and many gamblers are more flamboyant and as a result will place bigger bets and subsequently have less than 25 goes more likely bet is 2 chips. So that figure of six hours can easily be halved.
Roulette tables can accommodate 10 players although we recommend no more than 8 at a time. Each game with 8 players could take as long as 3 minutes as players have approximately 30 seconds to place bets then the wheel is spun for say 20 seconds then the win is marked then all losing bets removed and all winning bets paid accordingly. As you can imagine if you have all 8 as winners it can take a while to pay everyone so I think 3 minutes is a realistic average.
So once again if there are 8 at the table all placing a one chip bet then there will be 25 games of 3 minute duration i.e. 75 minutes. For 50 guests there would be roughly 6 seat changes (6x8=48) and 6 x 75 minutes equals 450 minutes which is roughly 7 and a half hours.
However most people on roulette go crazy and place 4 or 5 chips down each go giving them only 5 or 6 games instead of 25. Not accounting for them winning of course but for those that win there will be many that lose. Once again I think you can comfortably halve that time to around 3 hours.
Basically a little bit of thought is required before booking but it will be well worth it. Remember that any potential problem can be overcome as you can reduce the number of chips per guest or you could ask us for a price for 4 hours say or you could add another table you can also give clearly defined start and finish times so guests avoid “slow play”. You can get guests to gamble in teams or you can get guests to gamble against the clock. For example an announcer states Table “A” you have 15 minutes to gamble. If table A has 12 guests then it is easy to see that in one hour 48 guests will have had a chance to gamble.

Suffice to say we will liaise very closely with you to come up with the best gambling format for your particular event. Remember the above information is only meant as a guide as in reality each event can be as unpredictable as the luck of the cards or the spin of the roulette wheel but rest assured your guests will thoroughly enjoy their gambling experience with Casino Classics from Essential Entertainments and they won't have lost a fortune in the process.
Q. How big are the tables
A. The largest are 9 x 5 and the smallest are 7 x 4.
Q. Can we just hire tables and croupier ourselves.
A. Yes but we would not advise it for first time customers as it is quite an art ensuring the smooth running of the event. This option would be marginally cheaper and if you were interested in this option click here. How To Croupier Yourself
